ART Resilience Centres
ART Resilience Centres are community-based learning hubs where farmers, women, and young people come together to strengthen agroecological practices, restore degraded landscapes, and build practical solutions for resilient food systems. The centres combine local knowledge with hands-on learning, creating spaces where communities experiment, share ideas, and develop solutions that respond to their own realities.
Communities already hold the knowledge — they just need the space to grow it.
Across many communities, smallholder farmers continue to face declining soil fertility, climate change, biodiversity loss, rising production costs, and limited access to practical agroecological training. Indigenous crops, seeds, and traditional knowledge are disappearing, while increasing use of agricultural chemicals threatens food safety. While many solutions exist, they often fail to reflect local realities or build on the knowledge already held within communities. ART Resilience Centres help bridge this gap by creating locally owned spaces where learning, innovation, and community collaboration can thrive.
Our Approach on the Ground
Farmer Learning
Deliver practical training on agroecology, soil restoration, water conservation, composting, and climate-resilient farming practices.
Demonstration Farms
Establish learning sites where farmers can observe, test, and adapt sustainable farming techniques before applying them on their own farms.
Indigenous Knowledge
Promote traditional farming practices, local seed systems, and ecological knowledge that strengthen resilience and biodiversity.
Community Innovation
Encourage peer learning, farmer exchanges, and locally led solutions that respond to changing environmental and social conditions.
Climate Resilience
Support communities to improve soil health, conserve natural resources, and strengthen their ability to adapt to climate change.
Community Action Hub
The primary space where ART mobilizes communities, delivers its programs, and strengthens local collaboration for lasting impact.

Current Activities
Utawala, Nairobi County
Community demonstration farm supporting urban agroecology, regenerative farming, and practical learning.
Machakos County
Community-based agroecology initiatives focused on soil restoration, farmer capacity building, and climate resilience.
Additional Resilience Centres will be established through partnerships with communities and local institutions across Kenya and Africa.
